“Poison is in everything, and no thing is without poison. The dosage makes it either a poison or a remedy.”
~ Paracelsus ~
My prayers go out to all the tribes who are preserving the sacred knowledge of Kambo in this life, to all those brave enough to heal, and to all that have the pure intention to connect on deep level, learn, and spread the power of this magical medicine.
Kambo, Sapo, or Acate, is indeed a fascinating traditional remedy with a rich history and a range of applications.
Its use among indigenous tribes of the Amazon highlights its cultural significance and the deep understanding of natural medicine they possess.
Kambo, also referred to as frog medicine, is derived from the skin secretion of the nocturnal Giant Monkey Tree Frog (Phyllomedusa Bicolor) native to the Amazon basin.
Kambo has a range of traditional and potential therapeutic applications, both medical and psycho-spiritual.
Often regarded as an “ordeal medicine,” Kambo is known for its strong emetic or purgative effects that help detoxify the body.
While the experience can be intense and uncomfortable at first, many people seek it out for its healing and revitalizing properties for body, mind and spirit.
Kambo is believed to boost the immune system and activate self-healing within the body.
Thanks to this, our body can deal with any disease on its own.
This proces is long lasting, if we support it with a healthy lifestyle and regular encounters with the frog.
Kambo assists with release of accumulated toxins, emotional blocks, negative mental patterns or addictions.
It acts as a natural antibiotic, blood cleanser and has antiviral, antifungal and anti-inflammatory properties.
As a profoundly transformational tool, Kambo medicine is also known to foster emotional stability, increase compassion, courage, clarity of thought and personal empowerment.
These positive changes may last several days or several months, depending on the application and the person receiving it.
Because of its potent effect on the whole human organism, the Kambo remedy has been utilised for generations by indigenous tribes for various purposes including:
Healing and cleansing of the body
Enhancing physical strength and stamina
Promoting spiritual and mental clarity
Opening up to luck and zest for life
If the impression that Kambo can cure anything has arisen, we still must consider that every human being is unique.
The outcome of the treatments can vary in effects and time.
Everybody is different and therefore every session will differ, as Kambo works on many levels and is unique in its translation.
Although there is no doubt of the wide range of uses of Kambo, it is necessary to find the right treatment specific to each person and condition.
The regularity of treatments and correct dosage are also vital in order to have the most continuous beneficial effects.
If you hear the “calling of the frog”, please consider to honestly research whether the medicine is safe for you.
Here is the list of the most adverse conditions for your to be aware of:

Don’t hesitate to contact me if you face any health problems or require clarification or guidance.
We will also have a detailed consultation prior to the ceremony.
In order to prepare your body for the best possible results, I suggest sticking to a light fresh diet several days prior to the treatment. You should avoid sugar, deep fried, spicy food or food that is hard to process. Furthermore, please completely renounce alcohol, stimulants (coffee, tea – stop at least a day prior to the ceremony), drugs (unless we treat severe addiction) and sexual activity. This will help you ease the process and receive much deeper cleanse and more benefits from the treatment.
It is advisable to wear very comfortable clothes during the ceremony. You may want to bring a personal water bottle of at least 1l volume, a blanket to keep you warm or any other personal item or amulet that will enhance your comfort and coziness.
Please, consider that the entire ceremony may take around 2-3 hours. I advise to clear your schedule after the session and focus entirely on yourself, as you may want to rest longer and have plenty of time for integration.
Kambo is most effective when used on an empty stomach. Therefore you should not consume any solid or liquid food for around 12 hours before the treatment and drink only water. If you happen to be a diabetic and need to eat something more often, get in touch with me, there is always a solution.
Once you are ready, a thin aerial root called “tamshi”, or an incense stick will be set on fire and blown out. The glowing end will be used to burn the superficial layer of the skin to ensure access to your lymphatic system. This procedure will be performed on an area of the body selected beforehand. There will be several points burned into the skin. The number of points or “gates” varies from person to person, and on the length and depth of work done prior to the session.
Shortly before the application you will drink around 2 litres of lukewarm water. This will help you with the process of releasing and it will reduce the uncomfortable effects of receiving the therapy. Some tribes traditionally use a drink made from the yuca root called “masato” or a banana drink called “chapo”.
The burned layer of the skin will be removed, and the secretion will be applied onto the exposed gates. For this purpose, the secretion on the stick will be softened using a few drops of water or saliva (practitioner’s or your own) and rolled into little balls that will be flattened to cover each area of exposed skin.
Please, consider that depending on your skin type and the aftercare, these burn marks may quickly disappear or stay visible for several months afterwards.
You will notice the first effects shortly after the secretion is applied onto the skin. This usually happens within 1- 2 minutes. In rare cases, it might take longer, and the dose might have to be adjusted. The peptides of Kambo medicine enter directly into the lymphatic system and from there into the bloodstream.
The reaction can differ from person to person and from treatment to treatment.
There is a wide range of symptoms that can be triggered by Kambo but they do not happen all at once and may vary on intensity.
The purgative experience can lead to a release of pent-up emotions, allowing you to confront and process feelings you may have been avoiding. You may feel a need to scream, laugh or cry to release emotional and energetic blockages.
I highly recommend stepping into your power, allowing what comes to come without holding back, and experiencing the entire ritual in complete presence. The key to mastering the process in acceptance and softness is active focus on your breath, sound, or movement.
The symptoms might vary in intensity and quantity depending on the individual, depth, and length of work with Kambo, the area the medicine works on, and on the dose. The most intense part of the treatment can take between 10 – 30 minutes. In some cases, this might take longer or even shorter.
It is possible, especially with low blood pressure, that the person may faint during the session. Therefore, it is necessary to connect with an experienced practitioner who can provide a safe space and facilitate the healing.
I will be by your side and fully available during the entire ceremony.
While the potential benefits of Kambo are widely recognized, it is essential to approach its use with caution and respect, ensuring that it is administered by knowledgeable and experienced practitioner. In this case, Kambo is very safe, although in rare cases the immune system may first drop down allowing the cleansing process to continue for couple of days before one would experience the beneficial feelings of the medicine. This may happen after a very intense cleanse or when there is a more serious illness or trauma to heal.
The first reaction is typically a feeling of blood rushing into the head. This will be perceived as increased heat in the facial area and the rest of the body, frequently accompanied by a faster and more intense heartbeat and very often followed by nausea and vomiting. The water will usually leave first, and as the session progresses it may be followed by a variety of slimy, milky, yellow, orange, green, brown, or sometimes black liquids and bile. You may also feel a need to defecate.
You may experience swelling in the facial area and in the neck region. The intensity of this can vary, but in most cases, it subsides relatively fast. Expectorant cough, especially when dealing with lung disease, can also occur. The treatment is often accompanied by sweating, which is yet another way of body releasing toxins. Eye discharge, chills, cramps, dizziness, numbness in the hands and legs, and physical weakness may occur symptomatically.
The positive effects of Kambo can be usually noticed immediately after the treatment or within a day. You may feel an influx or new energy and strength, inner peace, clarity of mind and healing of the body. Some people report that their well-being improved from day to day, with some it took up to two weeks for an improvement to become evident, and sometimes it may take another session to reach the desired positive change.
The application of Kambo has both short-term and long-term effects. The short-term effects include a state of alertness, increased energy, sharpening of the senses, good mood, calm mind, an overall better feeling in one’s own body. Feelings of hunger and thirst, cravings for alcohol, cigarettes or meat tend to diminish. Long-term effects include support of the immune system, victory over fatigue and exhaustion, and overall improvement in health and wellbeing
The reaction and effects of Kambo always differ depending on the individual, his needs, and the intervals of treatment. Even though they are always unpredictable, it is best to keep in mind that this intelligent medicine knows exactly why it does what is does, where it needs to begin the process, how long it will take and what is necessary for the person’s healing.
When working with Kambo, one may get strongly connected with the spirit of the frog and its sufferings during the extraction process. Some of the intense reactions during the session are a sign of this connection and deep healing on an energetic level.
This can be observed very often when working with this remedy on long term basis with deep intentions of learning especially in its natural environment.
The symptoms originate from the connection to Kambo and the process of harvesting the secretion that the frog had to go through. Swelling of the facial area known as a “frog face” is one of the indications. The numbness in the hands and legs can be connected to the feeling of the frog’s extremities tied up during the extraction.
When Kambo ceremony is held in nature or in the jungle where it resides, it is often natural to end up sitting in a position resembling the stance of a frog, because it is not uncommon to purge both ways at the same time. Some of the sounds produced while throwing up resemble the sounds of the croaking frog.
Despite going through a short period of discomfort during the treatment, it is wise to remember the intention and the gift of deep cleanse received, as one will ultimately excrete a mass of toxins through all pores and orifices in their body. Even though a person might feel weak after this process, they will recover quickly, which is very similar to what the frog would do.
This choice is very individual and depends on the person’s needs, their calling, and their health situation. Therefore, it is necessary to discuss all options with the practitioner prior to the treatment.
In many cases one treatment can be sufficient to achieve some desired effects. Yet, it is recommended to use Kambo more than once, because Kambo cleanses our body, mental, emotional and energetic field layer by layer each time.
There are several ways how Kambo can be taken. These may vary based on what needs to be achieved and on the practices of different tribes and practitioners.
One of the ways Kambo can be used is in the form of dieta in the jungle or to achieve deeper connection for several days in a row. This is advisable especially when dealing with bigger issues to reconnect to the previous treatment and experience an even deeper cleanse.
Depending on the results you want to achieve, Kambo may be used once a week, twice in a month, during new moon or similar. As soon as the effect of the medicine wear off (usually 4-5 weeks), it is recommended to repeat the application to maintain this cocktail of peptides in the body at an optimal level.
If the intervals between the treatments are short, the dosage might have to be increased because Kambo remains in the system for some time carrying on its work. In case of a long interval between the treatments, it is recommended to start again with a smaller or initial dose. Very often one will intuitively feel when it is the right time for the next Kambo session.
I learned and explored shamanic breath techniques and traditional healing medicine work with shamans in Nepal, Siberia and in the jungles of Peru and Gabon.
After my first encounter with Kambo medicine, which completely transformed my life, I deeply connected with the frog spirit and got inspired to become the channel for its powerful healing, love and transformation. I decided to receive blessing directly from the spirit of the frog and the forests where Kambo resides.
This led me to the Peruvian Amazon jungle where I spent ten intense and insightful days alone in the forest undergoing a Kambo dieta (shamanic way of connecting with medicine) and studied indigenous wisdom and the application and extraction of “Akate” (frog extract) slightly adapted to the Western lifestyle with two incredible teachers and their Matses friends.
My path continued over a year later when I joined a friend who organised an expedition to the Matses people. The Matses tribe carries a long tradition of use and work with Kambo medicine, and I was truly blessed to receive my teachings about a traditional way of their healing art directly from them. In order to connect even deeper with the spirit of Kambo, I underwent another, this time longer shamanic dieta in solitude with the medicine. No teacher could pass on the wisdom that this profound experience gave me. Much deeper connection with the spirits of the forest and the frog was built, and I received even greater understanding of Kambo’s powers on a spiritual level.
Enormous healing, noticeable physical, emotional and spiritual transformation of my life and witnessing these changes in others are the main motivation for me to continue doing this work.
The Kambo secretion based on human use was first researched and described by western scientists John Daly, Vittorio Erspamer and their team, and published in 1992.
Vittorio Erspamer already published an article based on his studies of peptides in Phyllomedusa’s skin – “A huge factory and store-house of active peptides” in 1985.
These bio active peptides are also the reason why the pharmaceutical industry is very interested in the research. Developing a new medication from one of the peptides could be worth hundreds of millions of dollars and there are already several patents existing on some of the peptides.

One of the primary benefits of Kambo on the energetic level is its ability to clear blockages and stagnation in the body’s energy system, allowing for greater flow or life force energy and alignment with one’s true self. It has an ability to cleanse and strengthen one’s aura, by removing negative influences, attachments, and energetic debris. This leads to a profound sense of rejuvenation, protection, and vitality, as the energy field becomes more resilient and empowered.
Kambo assists in restoring balance between the mind, body, and spirit. When these aspects of self are out of alignment, it can lead to dissonance and disharmony in one’s life. Kambo helps to bring these elements back into harmony, allowing for a more balanced and peaceful energetic state and spiritual health.
The tribesmen of the Amazon traditionally use this medicine with the intention to gain sexual attraction or “hunter” abilities, and to clear themselves from bad luck or negative energy called „paneme”. Kambo is a perfect cleansing agent for such vibrations because the medicine helps to effectively release these toxic energies and bring back success in life.
The Matses tribe uses Kambo for luck prior to hunting to catch a big animal. In the Western culture, we don’t hunt for game in the forest, but we often “hunt” for career, success, money, health, or partners. This could correspond to archaic desires of being the best hunter. It is said that everything flows easier in life after taking Kambo, because the internal transformation changes what we attract externally.
Kambo helps to purge toxins from the body by stimulating the lymphatic system and liver. This deep cleansing process aids in improving overall organ function, strengthens the immune system, and activates self-healing response within the body. It is a natural antibiotic, antiviral and antifungal and therefor kills bacteria, viruses, and fungi, cleanses the blood, and can improve general well-being. Certain bioactive peptides in Kambo act as natural painkillers, providing relief from chronic pain. The secretion also contains compounds with strong anti-inflammatory properties, which may help alleviate conditions like arthritis or muscle soreness.
Studies show that some peptides in the Kambo can be very effective in dealing with Alzheimer, Parkinsons Disease, infertility, hepatitis, cancer, AIDS, and other serious conditions. Although there is no doubt of the wide range of uses of Kambo, it is necessary to find the right treatment specific to each person and condition. The regularity of treatments and correct dosage are also vital to have the most continuous beneficial effects.
There has been no modern clinical research done on humans to illustrate its curative nature. This is why we need to be patient before officially calling Kambo a medicine, however there are many people that have experienced the potency of the Kambo which is good thing to acknowledge. I have witnessed Kambo help many people with a variety of conditions including allergies, skin diseases, asthma, rheumatism and joint disorders, chronic pain and infections, malaria, diabetes, hepatitis, epilepsy, and depression. It helped with post chemotherapy renewal, served as disease prevention and much more.
As a profoundly transformational tool, Kambo medicine is also known to foster emotional stability. The purgative experience can lead to release of pent-up emotions, helping individuals to confront and process unresolved traumas or feelings they may have been avoiding, and transform unwanted emotional energy into new behavioral patterns.
Many users experience a cathartic release during or after Kambo ceremony, which can bring a profound sense of relief. People report enhanced emotional resilience, sense of calm, balance, and increased clarity of thought. Some users find that Kambo increases a sense of compassion, courage, and personal empowerment.
By detoxifying the body and resetting the nervous system, Kambo can often lead to significant reductions in symptoms of anxiety and depression. The peptides in Kambo interact with brain chemistry, promoting the release of hormones like serotonin and dopamine, which regulate mood and emotional well-being.
Addictions, frustration, anger, and fears also tend to ease or dissipate entirely, contributing to overall mental and emotional stability. Kambo acts as an energetic reset, helping to clear emotional blockages, traumas or negative thought patterns that may manifest as confusion, overwhelm, or instability. In addition, the experience is often described as grounding, helping one feel more connected to their body and stay present in the moment.
